Why Study Environmental Science?

As human populations have grown rapidly, the increasing demand for natural resources and continued alteration of Earth's systems have produced a wide array unintended consequences. In recent years, environmental concerns increasinlgy have come to the forefront within the larger context of economics, politics, and international policy. Whatever your chosen career path, you undoubtedly will encounter these environmental issues in the media; perhaps they will even affect you personally. As global citizens, it is critical that we understand the physical, chemical, and biological processes that shape the Earth and the social and political processes that influence our responses to environmental change. Studying Environmental Science will give you a solid understanding of the dynamic relationship between humans and the natural world so that you will be able to make informed decisions on environmental issues.
